The Community Rides Grant recently assisted UCHRA Public Transportation for Family Engagement night at Burks Elementary School. Heather Thomas, UCHRA Public Transportation, said: “Serving on the CRMC Foundation Coalition with Sarah Birdwell and Katelyn Steakley has been a privilege. This coalition provided the opportunity for public transportation to work with Putnam County School System and EMS Child Passenger Safety Coordinator, Leah Thomas.”

The Community Rides Grant, of which Heather is the Project Manager, provided the free transportation and PEP procured the free car seats for the student’s families needing transportation to the Burks engagement night held March 1. Katelyn Steakley, Executive Director of Putnam Education Partnership, brought the donated car seats and boosters to be secured by Leah Thomas, Putnam County EMS Child Passenger Safety Coordinator, and the UCHRA Public Transportation shuttles for the event were sponsored by CRMC Charitable Foundation. For more information on car seat safety, contact Leah Thomas at 931-528-1555. For information about public transportation, visit UCPublictransit.com or call 1-833-UC TRIPS.
