On July 16, UCHRA Public Transportation joined transit agencies across the nation in recognizing National Rural Transit Day—a time to celebrate the essential role rural transportation plays in connecting communities and supporting independence.
Behind every trip provided is a dedicated team working together to ensure safe, reliable, and accessible transportation throughout the Upper Cumberland. From drivers and county coordinators to dispatchers, call center representatives, maintenance staff, and support personnel, each member of the UCHRA Public Transportation team plays an important role in helping residents reach the destinations and services they need.
Over the past year, the UCHRA Public Transportation team traveled more than 3.6 million miles and provided more than 340,000 trips across the region. These trips connected individuals to medical appointments, employment, education, shopping, and countless other essential destinations.
While these numbers demonstrate the reach of UCHRA Public Transportation services, the true impact of rural transit extends far beyond miles traveled and trips completed. Each ride represents a connection—helping individuals maintain independence, remain active in their communities, and access the resources that support their daily lives.
The commitment and dedication of the UCHRA Public Transportation team make these services possible each day. Their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to serving others ensure that residents throughout the Upper Cumberland have access to dependable transportation options when they need them most.
